DetailsUnderstanding Paint
Why paint fails,
and how we bring it back.
Most owners have never seen what their paint actually looks like under proper lighting. Understanding what's happening in your clear coat is the first step toward keeping your car looking the way it should.

What are swirl marks?
Fine circular scratches in your clear coat, usually caused by incorrect washing, dirty cloths or drive-through car washes. Under direct sunlight they show as a network of light spider-webbing across the paint.
Why does paint go dull?
Oxidation, embedded contamination and thousands of micro-scratches gradually rob the clear coat of clarity. Light stops reflecting cleanly — the paint looks flat and lifeless even after washing.
Why machine polishing works
A machine polisher combined with the correct pad and compound safely refines the top layer of clear coat, removing defects at their depth and restoring the smooth, glass-like surface light needs to reflect properly.
Polishing vs. detailing
Detailing is cleaning. Paint correction is refinishing. Detailing gets the car clean; correction physically removes defects from the clear coat and permanently restores gloss.

FAQ
Paint correction, explained.
What is paint correction?
+
Paint correction is a machine polishing process that removes defects — swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, water spots and holograms — from your vehicle's clear coat. Unlike polishes and glazes, correction physically refines the paint rather than hiding defects.
How long does paint correction take?
+
A paint enhancement is typically a full day. One-step correction takes one to two days. Multi-stage correction on a heavily defected car can run three days or more depending on paint condition.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?
+
Yes. A ceramic coating seals in whatever is underneath — defects and all. Correction before coating means you're locking in the best possible finish for the life of the coating.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
+
Our professional coatings are rated for 2–5+ years depending on the system, how the vehicle is stored and how it's maintained. We provide aftercare guidance with every coating.
Is my car too new / too old for correction?
+
New cars often benefit from paint enhancement to remove dealership-inflicted swirls before coating. Older cars with tired, oxidised paint are prime candidates for multi-stage correction. Every case is different — book a paint inspection.
Do you come to me?
+
Yes — we're fully mobile across South East Queensland. Correction work requires controlled lighting, so we prefer covered or shaded workspaces. We can advise on setup during the inspection.
